What is your favorite faith-based hymn, song or chorus?
Probably going to be the toughest question because I have many hymns I want played, sung and listened to at my memorial service:

What was the context, content and/or topic of the last sermon that truly touched, convicted, inspired, challenged, comforted and or otherwise moved you?
Dave's sermons of late have been on the gospel of Abraham. They have inspired me to press on. God covenants with Abraham and us/me, regardless, in spite of, the continual messing up I do. Abraham's righteousness isn't because of him, but because of Him. Abraham messes up--a lot! But Yahweh pursues and promises and is faithful. Another sermon Dave preached on a year and a half ago has stuck with me.

If you could have all the Presbyterians read just one of your previous posts, what would it be and why?
The Gospel is good news. It is different than what our world has to offer but sometimes what I sense from our denomination is a desire to fit in to the world, not to stand out, but to accept and tolerate the ways of the world. The gospel is better than what the world has to offer and I wrote about that here.
What are three PC(USA) flavored blogs you read on a regular basis?

The Reformed Pastor by Rev. David Fischler. He posts fascinating stories about the church and culture from around the world, adding his poignant and pertinent opinions and observations.
Kruse Kronicles by Michael Kruse. Similar to David's, insights into our culture, trends, and good reads.
Shuck and Jive by John Schuck. I often come away from his blog shaking my head in disbelief in what he writes. 99% of the time I can't believe the stuff he expounds but occasionally he has something ponderable. I read him because I like to hear diverse voices.
If the PC(USA) were a movie, what would it be and why?
For some odd reason The Matrix comes to mind. I think because true reality takes faith. We think we're living in reality but it is make believe. What I read and hear from many in the denomination is a lack of faith. It seems the trend is to only stand by that which can be tested in a laboratory. Faith in the unseen is mocked and ridiculed and taken to be backward, a sign of ignorance and lack of education.

"I can not tell" is another song I love and being sung to the tune of Danny Boy is a plus. I guess that is the bit of Scotland in me. “And Can It Be” is wonderful also. We sung that one at Church not long ago.
Thanks for responding Barb. And I just wanted you to know I bought two cans of garbanzo beans to make the recipe you posted. I will skip making the pita bread for now because I have shingles on my face and lots of pain pills and steroids in me so I am taking it easy.

By the way, I saw on your "books read" list that you read McCarthy's "The Road." I read it last year, and was wondering what you thought of it?
David - I read the Road right after seeing the film the Mist, based on a stephen king novel. The two stories are a great contrast in hope - one (the road) the father holds out hope and the other (the mist) the father gives up hope. Some of the scenes in the road I skimmed through because the images were a bit too much - if you know what I mean.
