The Simple Woman's Daybook - 8 September 2008

For more daybooks entry go to the Simple Woman.

Outside my window...the sun is shining, it's going to be another gorgeous pre-Autumn day. I am totally blown away for the weather as of late. It's not even reached 90 degrees. You can smell the new season in the air. Last weekend we went camping and saw reds and yellows in the trees.

I am thinking...blogging can be tiresome. I get weary trying to think of something to write about just every other day. I really don't know how daily bloggers do it. I suppose I could get on a band-wagon and blog to death about a particular topic. But with my potential OCD that might kill my husband and I'd neglect my family.

From the Learning Room...I'm struggling with getting my 7th grader to enjoy Language Arts and to follow through on certain tasks. I am rejoicing that he LOVES to read. He devoured a G.A. Henty book last week (I had scheduled for him to finish it this Friday and now I have to find him another title instead).

I am thankful for... a husband who enjoys the political process as much as I.

From the kitchen.... pancakes are on WarmHold in the microwave and we're having Goat Cheese and Pea Quiche for Dinner.

I am wearing... my nightgown still!

I am reading... The Paradise War by Stephen Lawhead - started out with a bang but it's slowing down.

I am hoping... I get stronger in my ability to communicate my opinion with confidence. I am a timid person. I don't want to make waves. I don't want to offend. But when I'm offended by another's opinion I tend to say nothing, walk away and chalk it up to "I'm going to take the high-road, be polite and not tell them what I really think." I think this is cowardly of me because my motive isn't really so righteous. I'm a chicken and really want to keep peace rather than speak my piece. I need boldness.

I am creating...I am hoping my kids during the next two months learn through my activism that our U.S. political process is unique and a privilege. We can speak our mind and not fear imprisonment because we disagree with our leaders.

I am hearing... 97.1 talk radio. I was on the radio this Saturday. Blog coming later this week!

Around the house... is a kitchen floor desperately needing to be mopped but my mopped broke. I have gone through about 6 different mops and brands in the last 3 years. I hate them, but need them. Any recommendations??

One of my favorite things... my 7th grader apologizing on Saturday for giving me such a hard time at school on Friday - - without my provocation!

A few plans for the rest of the week... transplant my hydrengeia (or however you spell it) plants and clearing out weeds.

Here is a picture-thought... a baptism service in Bihar, India. And as you view the photo be in prayer for this state. They are facing incredible floods right now.

I know what you mean about the struggle to think what to blog about but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things after months of really not posting much at all.

The mop thing is hard. I honestly prefer to just do it the old fashioned way, on my hands and knees. I haven't found a mop that works as well, after it's been used a time or two, no matter how clean I try to get the mop head.

Thia - I'd get on my hand and knees (an have done so in other houses) if my kitchen floor were smaller. I sent my husband out to the hardware store to pick up a new mop and he came back with a huge rubbermaid but was recommended from the sales clerk. So I spent the afternoon tables, islands, rugs then cleaning, scrubbing with Murphy's Oil and Bleach, then rinsed off. It's still a thankless job because tomorrow it'll rain and the dogs will come running in with muddy paws! Thanks for the visit!

HI! I found you via the Simple Woman blog and it's been nice to visit with you. Sometimes I keep a list of possible blog topics that I notice/like/think about and then use them one a day. It helps me to have ideas ahead of time. The mop - I have a Norwex mop that I bought at a home party and it's very good. There are 2 heads so you can use it wet or dry. The mop part comes off and can be washed in between times. You can use it for windows or wiping walls too. It was expensive but I don't think I'll have to buy another one for a very long time. Hope that helps!

Re: blogger guilt/stress - I believe our friend Paul prepares often works on several postings for the week in a single sitting; he does them on the weekends and then posts them throughout the week. Might be less stressful, more fun that way. I've never been one to do a little bit of anything every day.

I know some very sporadic bloggers. But the most popular ones post every day or two, don't they? I can't manage that either.
