I Was Rejected

I found out about a website called Pastorswives.com. It is a place for pastor's wives, obviously, to find articles of support and encouragement. There are also boards to dialogue on. I thought, "Great, a place to talk openly and honestly about this life." I checked it out and decided to join.

You know how it is when you join a board, they email you back with the activation link and that's how you get in the club. I received my letter which stated I had 7 days, 1 week, to respond and to verify I was truly a pastor's wife I had to include the church and denomination where my husband pastored. I was a little reluctant to share this information. I like anonymity in these types of situations. So I sat on the letter for a couple days.

Lo, and behold, not 3 days after receiving my activation letter I received notice that my request to join the pastorswives has been rejected. I was flabbergasted. What did I do? Did they sense my apprehension in sharing certain information and therefore deemed me unworthy of the calling?

Then I thought of Grouch Marx, who said, "I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members."

Okay, this is just weird! I haven't been here in awhile, so long that I didn't recognize your blog! I "ran into you" on Mommylife.net, when I commented about Where the Wild Things Are. If you are interested in a Pastor's Wives online thing, check out www.proverbs31.org There is an online forum, which is pretty quiet, and there are email lists, where you talk with people via email, one of the groups is for Pastor's wives and I don't think you would have to worry about rejection :) Hope you have a great day!

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the site pastorswives.com
I guess it was a little shocking for my rejection notice to come earlier than expected. I'm sure if I applied again, and confirmed that I was an actual pastor's wife, with my husbands church, etc. I would be accepted.
I would love to carry on a conversation with you too. There's a lot to discuss, share and pray about, that's for sure!

I would like to know if it's just something that goes with the position that causes clicks to form against the pastors wife

glb - I'm not sure what you mean about clicks against the pastor's wife. I certainly don't feel that in my church, although there is a reluctance (in my opinion, not researched this out) to get emotionally close bc of the possibility of us moving away, as other pastor's families have. Perhaps that's what contributes to pastor's families feeling a tad alienated from their congregations.

Hi, I'm so sorry you were rejected. I belong to that website as a fellow pastor's wife and it is wonderful there. Twice though they had to shut the whole website down to fix because people came in posing as pastor's wives and managed to put a virus in the whole system. It took a long time for them to get the new one put up. I believe their security is high right now but I encourage you to re apply and I'm sure you will be accepted. All the info you give them is kept confidential and only info you want displayed will be shown. Please try again and know that you will be blessed. Please don't let what happened keep you from great fellowship with other pastor's wives. It truly is a great place!
