I wonder if our country has it in ourselves to be a nation willing to sacrifice - like the greatest generation of WWII. During the war meat, sugar, nylons, chocolate, gasoline, bread were all rationed. The citizens of this great country were willing to give up, to save up so that our armed forces could keep going, keep pursuing the enemy.
It was a bit disheartening to hear our call to patriotism was a call to shop, shop, shop - boost the economy by spending more money. We weren't asked to give up, but give out. And we gave out and now there's nothing left.
