Perhaps Ayers' wife, Bernadine Dohrn, expressed that "spirit" best in a public warning at the zenith of the Weather Underground's influence:
Now we are everywhere and next week families and tribes will attack the enemy around the country. We're not just attacking targets; we're bringing the pitiful, helpless giant (the USA) to its knees. Guard your planes...guard your colleges...guard your banks...guard your children...guard your doors.
This election long ago ceased to be a partisan battle between Republicans and Democrats. It really isn't a contest over big and small government, higher or lower taxes, or even abortion and homosexual rights. read more

This commentator is a bit extreme in the quote where she basically equates Obama with Lucifer. Paul read "The Faith of Barack Obama" and I read "The Audacity of Hope." BOTH candidates show some very noble qualities and Christian foundations in their lives.
I didn't see that connection Heather - the quote from Lucifer (where ever that quote came from originally) is in Saul Alinsky's book who seems to be have been an influence on many in the Democratic Party.
So what is your opinion of Sen. Obama after reading those books? During this election?
I'm a bit reluctant to say, but I would definitely not pin on him all the "destruction of America" baggage that the author wanted to lay at his feet. Did you know that Baraka in Swahili means "blessing?"
You know Heather, I've read the article for a third time and still don't come to the same conclusion as you. The article really doesn't talk about Sen. Obama so much as the political climate - it seems to be more lenient toward a socialistic, liberal, government - embracing spreading the wealth around vs. personal responsibility and reward for success. The author sees this and speculates where this originated. That's how I see it.
