Okay...Call Me a Genius...Go Ahead...Call Me a Genius...I'm Waiting

So I planted some seeds into egg shells several weeks ago. I saved the egg cartons, filled the half (cleaned) egg shell with potting soil and planted mesculun, cilantro, basil, zinnias, nasturtiums, marigolds...you get the picture. Most are ready to transfer to outdoors.

Last weekend I transplanted some of these delicates babies into two planters. They are still seedlings and can't take a down-pouring of water. I had been using a spray bottle to mist the egg-shell planters and now I needed watering can with a sprinkler head. However the last two I bought, from Walmart the sprinkler head always leaked so the water gushed out. No sprinkling! (I purchased one, had the non-sprinkling problems, then bought another thinking I got a flukey can - nope same thing happened with the second.)

So, not wanting to spend the $10 I needed to come up with a solution. Now I have plastic juice bottles on my counter waiting to be taken to the recycling center. An idea hit....drill holes in the cap of the apple juice bottle and I've got a watering can. I just did and I just watered and now I have an cost-efficient watering-can. Love it! So...you can call me a genius now. Picture to come later - Dave has the camera with him in India and he'll be returning on Thursday. Yeah!!!

so can we eat some of it yet! I have something someone gave me years ago (still in the pkg.)used to convert a milk carton (I think). I'll bring it in June if I can find it. I'm impressed with the planting and I'll call you a genius in tons of areas!

You're a genius! :) Good job!

P.s...

thank you for the compliment on the earlier post! In truth, I'm not so wise. Mostly...just an idiot! (But thank you for being so kind!)

Love, love, love the eggshell idea. I have *got* to do that with the boys. The apple juice jug was a stroke of genius, I agree. :)

Thanks for the good words in your previous post! :)

sorry...i had to say it. I'm not big on him. I don't think you could say i'm "small" on him either. Why did he win a Nobel Prize?! Yeah, you're right, let's not go there.
